What's Happening with WLASA?
First Quarter, March 2021
Greeting Club Members, we are enjoying summer weather at this time, but it is too early to tell how mother nature will play out. Let us hope it helps with the walleye pond this year.
Again, we are dealing with COVID-19 as we will not host the Kids Fishing Contest during the Free Fishing Weekend in June. But good things for the future are: (1) the Walleye Pond will be active, we hope to have plenty of volunteers for that, plus (2) a chance to fillet fish during the Muskegon Summer Showdown Fishing Tournament which will (3) lead to the Club’s hosting, again, the Bill Gillan Fish Boil. We again are presented with opportunities for us to have a successful event for the Club and community and it will with all of us working together as volunteers.
Please give Sue Prosch a call as soon as possible to help with the spring highway pick-up.
It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know about the passing of Jamy Gillan, son of Glen Gillan, on February 9 and Mr. Ed Emery on April 5.
Stay informed by hitting the “Like” button on the Club’s Facebook page or visit the website for future updates and cancellations.
CHAIRPERSON FOR HIGHWAY PICK-UP
As many of you know, WLASA adopted the roadsides north and south bound US 31 highway from the Fruitvale Road exit in Montague to the Colby exit in Whitehall. We are dedicated in continuing our public service commitment and would appreciate all club members help in this effort.
The Club is still looking for a new chairperson for this event for 2021 and beyond. Please step-up to be the new chairperson. Call Mike at 231-450-3460 for more information.
HIGHWAY PICKUP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Spring highway pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, April 17 at 9 am. We need more volunteers!!! The more people we have, the faster it will get done. Lunch, and possibly dessert, will be provided!!! Please say yes!!! Give Sue Prosch a call or send a text to her at 636-448-8696.
Great news!! The Walleye Pond will be up and running for 2021. We have not yet heard when the fry will be delivered, but hopefully, by the end of April. Stan Jones is out of town during this project, but we will need your help now more than ever.
Would you like to help with the project, if so, please call Mike Schiller at 231-450-3460.
